Who owns the company?
The company is owned by a team that have a love of shepherd huts and they are hugely passionate about good workmanship and customer satisfaction. The team are now proving to be a very strong force in the market place with new innovative ideas coupled with traditional values.
Is there a guarantee for the hut and if so, for how long does the guarantee last?
Our work is carried out by professionals and all mains electrical work is part P certified, standard manufacturers and suppliers warranty applies to all components which Dorset Shepherd Huts purchases in. No warranty is applicapble to the workmanship.
Can I tow the hut?
We use either traditional iron wheels or more manoeuvrable wheels with rubber tyres like those found on modern vehicles. The modern wheels are more practical and will allow the hut to be easily moved over short distances. Our huts are all built with turning axels. If you require a hut that can be towed on highways from location to location this is not standard but is something we are able to incorporate - please ask for further details.
How is Dorset Shepherd Huts working to help the environment?
Dorset Shepherd Huts have been developing environmentally friendly concepts for our business since the very beginning. We use Farrow and Ball oil free paints for our interior, and we use timber sourced from FSC sustainable forests. We ensure our huts have the very highest grade of insulation, better than most on the market, which in turn will lower your energy bills. Where ever there is an environmentally friendly option with regards to resourcing we will choose this so long as the integrity of the hut is not compromised. Our office recycles paper and buys sustainable stationary as we believe that every little helps.
Do I need Planning Permission for a Shepherds Hut?
A shepherd hut is a portable structure on wheels, and as such it does not typically need planning permission. However, it is always advisable to check with your local planning office for confirmation as planning rules can differ from region to region.
Do I need to prepare a concrete base for the hut?
No shepherd's huts are portable buildings, and thus you can move them from place to place. If you are purchasing the traditional cast iron wheels, we recommend a length of timber under each wheel which spreads the load and stops the wheels sinking into the ground or a new technology or rubber matting which also does the job.
Will you deliver our new hut to us?
Absolutely. We have a specialist team who will deliver your hut to your chosen location and will help you to locate it where you choose. We have a standard price schedule which enables you to know in advance the costs associated with delivery, we can arrange for delivery throughout the UK and into Europe.
How do I pay?
To reserve your slot in the build programme (once we have agreed your specifications) we ask for a £600 holding deposit at the time of the order. Before we commence work we will require 50% of the total order value, and the balance is due on the day before delivery. Bank transfer is our preferred method of payment for the final balance, although we will accept a cheque with time to clear. The final payment will need to be arranged prior to the delivery date, so that we can see the cleared funds before the delivery is made.
How long will my shepherd hut take to build?
This will depend upon our current schedule and the complexity of the hut. As a rule of thumb a build programme of between five and eight weeks would be normal. For an accurate estimate please email to confirm.
